From 1st January 2007 UK companies have been required to include the following details on any electronic correspondence or website:

• Company registered name;
• Company registration number;
• Place of incorporation (e.g. England & Wales); and
• Registered office address.

The recent changes, prompted by European legislation, are in addition to the requirement to include such details on 'traditional' company correspondence such as letters and order forms etc.

The company and its officers, most notably directors, are responsible for ensuring compliance with the new law; failure to comply could result in a fine of £1,000.
