Now you can subscribe to Quay's Blog

You may have spotted the orange RSS button that has recently appeared on the News and Blog pages of our website.

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a new way to distribute the key content of websites (headlines, news, summaries and links) directly to your 'news reader' - without you having to actually visit the sites.  A news reader lets you view hundreds of headlines from multiple sites all in one place and saves you a huge amount of time going from site to site.

To read and access RSS feeds, all you need to do is download a news reader that displays RSS feeds from the websites you choose.  After installing the news reader, you can add each feed by clicking on the orange RSS button next to the feed.

After clicking on the button, cut and paste the URL address of that feed into your news reader.  You will now be subscribing to the feed, and each time that page is updated (e.g a new news item or blog), you will see it appear in your news reader.

Other websites that have feeds of their content include many of the BBC's sites and all their news pages.  IFAOnline also has a feed to which you can subscribe and increasingly you will see the orange RSS or 'Atom' button appearing on a site near you.

Just click on the RSS button on your chosen web pages, cut and paste the URL into your newsreader and wait for the news to appear.  In this way, you can receive just the key bits of your favourite websites all in one place, and without having to visit them.

If you do not yet have a news reader (many are free), or if you would like to find out more about RSS technology, please send an email to me at Quay and we will point you in the right direction.

Quay Modular Websites

Quay is currently working on including RSS technology within our Modular Website service, so that IFAs' clients can subscribe to your own news items, and so keep up to date with activities and services within your company.

Again, if you would like to learn more about how this can benefit your IFA business, please do get in touch at philip.calvert@quaysoftware.co.uk.
