Data conversion
When changing your back office systems an important
consideration will be what to do with your existing client data.
Whether this is held in another commercial back office system,
a "home built" system or whether you use spreadsheets
currently, it should be possible to transfer the data to your new
system.
Often the process is quite routine and can deliver very satisfactory
results very affordably. What's more, the data that you hold can
be "cleansed" to ensure that any missing data is identified
and repaired.
Typically conversion costs vary from £500 to £5,000
and the variance is due to a number of factors; such as the system
from which data is to be transferred; the extent to which the system
has been used; the volume of data involved and the requirements
for data cleansing.
The process of data conversion involves a "first cut"
of the data so that you can actually see Client Care Desktop operating
with you data. The system delivered is fully functional and users
are able to run reports such as pipeline, business spread, paid
statements, client valuations and analyses. Spending time to review
the system at this stage enables data cleansing issues to be identified
to be addressed during the "final cut".
